Real Bride: Bethan and Dave | Custom Pegasus Gown

#kindlingbride

As we’re nearing the end of 2023, I’ve become acutely aware that there’s a growing backlog of beautiful Real Brides that I’m yet to share with you. I’m not one for New Years Resolutions, so I figure why not start now, and get some of these wonderful images up on the journal, at long last!

Starting with beautiful Bethan, who was a vision in her custom Pegasus Gown. She came to me with a strong idea of what she wanted. She’d already bought a slip dress from somewhere else, but she was looking for something fun, modern and statement-making to go over the top of it. After she tried on the Pegasus Gown she knew it was the one for her, but she wanted to make a few changes to make it more ‘her’, which is always fine by me - I love brides bringing their own spin to designs and am always happy to discuss these elements.

We added a thigh high split to match the one on her slip dress, and we added in some super soft ostrich feathers with an ombre effect, starting with a lighter scattering at the top of the slit, working their way down to a heavier fullness along the hem. It added such a fun, playful element to her gown and from getting to know her during her fittings, I honestly I couldn’t imagine her wearing anything else. She also went for a simple raw edged knee length Veil which was a perfect pared-back style to let her dress do the talking, and then later switched it up with a stunning feather cape by my super talented friend Olivia at Electric Plume

It was such a pleasure to make Bethan’s dress, and a delight to get to see the photos from her day - it looks like her and Dave had the most magical celebration, and that botanical lace looks right at home in the middle of the woods.

Much love,

Kerri xx

When/where did you get engaged?

We got engaged in Finland, we got one of those glass ceiling pods but we didn't managed to see the Northern Lights! It was too cloudy. But we did come back engaged.

What did you most + least enjoy about planning your wedding?

I think what I enjoyed most about wedding planning was looking at the venue, we just fell in love with it straight away, easiest decision ever. I also really enjoyed all the things I could make myself because I'm crafty, I made the save the dates, invites and made all the decorations really.

Least was postponing everything and definitely the week before, 12 people dropped out of the day within the week before the wedding due to covid, two of those were bringing the wedding cars/driving the wedding cars. Managed to get all sorted and one of the cars still broke down in the morning!! Thankfully the tables didn't look empty and the spare food and wine got eaten and drank, no problem.

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

I don't know if I could pick a favourite part of the day, it was just the best day ever but it went so so fast. I stopped and looked around while the band were playing in the evening, lights twinkling in the trees, fire pit burning and everyone having fun, and it was just magical

How did you find your dress, and how did you know it was 'the one'?

I really struggling finding a dress, and tried on loads but just didn't feel like a bride. I found that gorgeous feather cape by Electric Plume and fell in love with that! And they had a lovely silk slip, but I still didn't feel like I had it quite right. I was feeling pretty fed up by the time I came to Kindling Bridal, and even think I had to try it on twice before I actually started to feel like a bride! Holding my hands up as if holding a bouquet with those gorgeous sleeves was the first time I felt bridal and you were so amazing with making my feathery fluffy dreams come to life, I knew you were totally on the same page as me. The finished product was just SO amazing, so much better than I could ever have imagined! So so so pleased with it, it was definitely the perfect wedding dress for me and so many people commented on how 'Bethan' it was!

Favourite and least favourite part about wedding dress shopping?

Favourite part was how supportive you were of my feathery, fluffy vision and I knew I could trust you to smash it, which you did, with bells on. You were absolutely perfect and made it all so easy. You were there for me like a friend would be, and it was clear how much you care and take pride in your creations.

Least favourite part of wedding dress shopping was some snobby assistants in a few shops, making you feel guilty for not loving anything or being 'too picky' or not knowing what you wanted. Made me feel like I was never going to find the one, and it was a lot of pressure.

Any tips for current brides to be?
