FAQ’S

+ How long does a Kindling garment take to make?

Lead time from measurements to completed garment is generally 6 months.

+ What if I need my dress sooner?

If you need your dress faster than our 6 month lead time, don’t panic, we can probably do a rush order for you – if we can, we will! Please get in touch to discuss your requirements hello@kindlingbridal.com.

+ Where are your gowns made?

All Kindling Bridal pieces are designed and developed by us, and are made to order in England. Most are made right here in our little Yorkshire Valley by Kerri and the wonderful Melanie. Some patterns are made with an amazing pattern cutting team in London, headed up by Marta.

+ Do I need to book an appointment to visit the showroom?

Yes, our showroom is quite small and each bride gets use of the full space to herself and her guests for the duration, so it is by appointment only to ensure you get the best, uninterrupted service. Please see our appointments page here.

+ How many guests can I bring to my appointment?

We recommend bringing no more than 4 guests with you to your appointment. This ensures everyone has enough space within the showroom and also means you won't be overwhelmed with opinions which can often make your decision even more difficult.

+ Can I take photos during my appointment?

Yes, of course! Often boutiques advise against taking photos because samples rarely fit perfectly, and a bad angle or lighting, or the wrong underwear can seriously kill the vibe on a dress that you love, so always remember to trust your instinct rather than relying on photos.

However we understand that it can be a lot to take in when you try on lots of styles, so having photo references of your favourites, or a nice moment of your day, can be super helpful.

+ What do I need to bring to my appointment?

We would recommend wearing nude, seamless underwear for your appointment, if you have some.

You are welcome to bring some shoes and accessories if you already know what you want to wear on the day, although we do have shoes and accessories available to try during your appointment.

+ Can I try on a Kindling garment before I buy?

You certainly can! We have the full collection available to try on at our showroom in West Yorkshire, you can book your visit here.

Alternatively our stockist, Story of My Dress in Kent, carries some styles - please contact them directly to book an appointment there.

If you can’t get to a stockist or our studio to try on our dresses, you can order our gowns online. We can try to help as much as we can before you place your order and we will happily send you swatches of fabrics, help with sizing and answer all of your questions.

+ What sample size range do you have to try on in your showroom?

Most samples available to try in the showroom are size 10-14, although we are working towards extending this size range, but we can always work with the bride to give you an idea of how any style will look. Please contact us before your appointment if you have any concerns.

+ What size should I order?

Please see our size guide. We use the standard UK sizing system and we highly recommend taking your measurements before ordering. If you’re in between measurements we recommend you order the bigger size as it’s much easier to take a dress in than to let it out.

We can also do split sizing on request (if your top half and bottom half are different sizes, which is very common!)

+ What sizes do your garments come in?

We can make any of our styles in any size. Our sizing chart shows our standard measurements for sizes 6-20 however we can make sizes smaller or bigger than this on request, at no extra charge.

+ Can I customise / make changes to my garment?

Absolutely! If you love a Kindling garment but want to customise some elements, such as change a neckline, add a sleeve or switch a fabric then we can absolutely accommodate you! All pieces are made-to-order so the options are endless. Please note some changes may incur extra charges, but these will always be discussed beforehand.

Alternatively, if you love the Kindling style but want something more bespoke, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

+ Do you do alterations?

When you buy your dress directly from Kindling Bridal, the price includes alterations (although please note any custom changes, should you want any, may be applicable to extra charges).

If you buy a dress through a stockist then they will deal with your alterations, and these may be charged for separately.

If you buy a garment online it will be sent out to you, and if you are unable to visit the showroom for alterations, it will be your responsibility to find a seamstress local to you to carry out any alterations, should you need any.

Alterations done elsewhere are not the responsibility of Kindling Bridal.

+ Can I see the fabric before I place my order?

Of course - we can happily send you a fabric swatch.

Please email us hello@kindlingbridal.com stating which garment(s) you are interested in, along with your address and we’ll send some swatches to you.

+ How can I pay for my garment?

We require a 50% deposit to start making your garment, and final payment is due on completion of the garment and must be received into our account before you can take your dress away. Payment can be made by bank transfer or card payment.

For veils or samples ready to take away on the day, payment must be made in full.

+ Do you offer refunds/exchanges?

Due to our gowns being made-to-order, all Kindling Bridal dresses are non-refundable/non-exchangeable. We will be happy to answer any questions, send you more information or photos before you place your order - please email us if you have any concerns.

+ How should I store my dress before/after the wedding?

We recommend storing your dress in a breathable garment bag before your wedding to prevent creasing; all of our dresses have breathable garment bags included. It is important to store it in an area that is cool, dark, dry and free from heat, moisture and insects.

After your wedding we recommend taking your dress to a specialist cleaner prior to storage as marks can be harder to remove over time.

+ Do you make bespoke designs?

Yes, absolutely! If you love the Kindling aesthetic but have dreams of having a unique gown designed exclusively for you, please get in touch. We love creating bespoke designs!

Prices start from £2000 and the process includes an initial consultation with designer Kerri, where we will discuss your ideas, fabric options and budget, you will then recieve a sketch of your design and, once we've agreed on the design and fabrics, you will recieve an invoice and order form. For bespoke designs we require a deposit of 70% with the final amount due on completion of the dress.

You will have a toile made up to perfect the fit before making it in your final fabric, and any alterations needed to achieve the perfect fit.

As bespoke orders are made-to-order and completely bespoke, we do not offer refunds or exchanges.
