Real Bride: angelica

Angelica married last August in the most beautiful woodland setting of Gibson Mill within Hardcastle Crags, which is a stunning Natural Trust venue right on our doorstep, in the heart of Hebden Bridge.

It was a delight to meet Angelica and get to make her dress. She initially came to me in August 2019 in search of a simple and refined look for her wedding the following August. She looked stunning in everything that she tried on, but she clearly had strong sense of what she wanted as she ended up opting for the first dress she tried on - the Celeste Gown with a bespoke lace top, which was a hybrid of the Pegasus and Aquarius Gowns, to wear over the top. We also changed the straps on the Celeste from thin spaghetti straps to thicker, tagliatelle straps (because when is pasta not a good reference point?!) which were a beautiful addition.

Despite a global pandemic hitting a few months before Angelica’s big day, it luckily didn’t end up impacting her nuptials, and each fitting with her and her mum was a joy, where any Covid stresses were quickly relieved with talk of wedding decor and exciting plans. They still got to celebrate their day as planned in August 2020, albeit with a few changes in order to comply with restrictions, but from seeing the photos, it looks like the most beautiful day celebrated with their friends and family - just what everyone needed after months of lockdown!

She looked absolutely stunning in her gown and top, and perfectly combined a refined elegance with a hint of boho - creating an outfit fit for a forest wedding, such a beautiful combination.

Angelica very kindly sent the most lovely testimonial after her wedding, which you can read below:

"Kindling Bridal was the first bridal shop I went to and the Celeste gown was the first dress I tried on. It felt amazing - I loved the silk. It was exactly the type of sleek and elegant dress I was looking for. I also loved the Pegasus and Aquarius gowns- the botanical lace is so unique ... as well as the Cygnus (such a show stopper!). I then matched the Aries top with the Celeste gown and really liked the two looks. Kerri was so helpful and the boutique is a lovely place to spend a long time looking at the collection without feeling rushed.

I went away and tried quite a few dresses in different bridal shops but couldn't stop thinking about the Celeste gown. I tried it on again a few months later and a bespoke Pegasus top and knew it was the dress for me. Kerri was so lovely and helped me to adapt it so it was just right (I added buttons, had thicker straps and adapted the top so it had a lower neckline and simple sleeves).

The fitting experience was great and Kerri was really flexible to make sure it was perfect. When I went to collect the dress she also gave me a 'Wedding Day' candle that smells amazing that I used on my wedding morning. She even helped me adapt a white denim jacket I bought for the day.

I absolutely loved the fact I ended up with three different looks for each part of the day- it made it extra special. The Celeste on its own is perfect for the first dance too- it moves effortlessly. I had endless compliments on the day and afterwards on how stunning the dress was and the photos look simply beautiful."  - Angelica
