Romeo & Juliet

Featured on Love My Dress

I was absolutely delighted when Ellie aka The Wedding Enthusiast approached me about a shoot, I've been a big fan of hers ever since I entered this wonderful industry, and was very pleased when I met her at Most Curious Wedding Fair earlier this year, to discover that she is just as lovely, creative and enthusiastic (duh!) as she comes across via her peachy social media persona in real life!

I was even more excited when she mentioned that the theme for said shoot was one of my all time favourite sources of inspiration - Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet! And the cherry on top of the already quite delicious cake, was the rest of the team that she had got involved, which consisted of my all time favourites as well as some incredible creatives I hadn't had the pleasure of working with before, it's safe to say I was very, very excited about this shoot.

“Kindling Bridal’s beautiful ‘Delphinus’ dress gave us the perfect elegant, sartorial look, bridging the gap perfectly between conservative and contemporary. It’s all over lace with a high standing collar neck and sheer capped sleeves provide an effortlessly cool silhouette, whilst the front-slit train can be removed to transform it into a chic midi dress when things get a little wilder.” - Elllie, The Wedding Enthusiast

“My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite."

Ellie really brought the dream alive, with styling which was so on point - it brought Luhrmann's visial delight straight up to date and wedding-ready for any modern couple worthy of this cult classic.

Amy George worked her magic on the very beautiful model Winona, giving her a moody, deep red lip and that dewy, natural skin which Amy just does SO WELL! And hairstylist Alice styled Winona's hair perfectly, enhancing her incredible natural curls for a youthful and wild look.

Tim Dunk was in his element capturing the details and light. I was there so I knew it was an amazing shoot, but when I saw Tim's photos, DAMN he's good! He has such a good eye, he captures things that you didn't know could look so incredible. He doesn't photograph an image, he captures a whole mood.

The red roses from River and Rose were used perfectly to combine the mood of Shakespeare's original and Luhrmann's take on this love story - a single red rose instead of a classic bouquet for Juliet which just feels so modern, and those heavy rose-laden crosses were just stunning; hanging in the darkness of Church Leeds with the sun's rays catching their delicate petals through the church windows.
